Unlike a denture, it is anchored down in your mouth by being firmly and permanently fixed onto the adjoining teeth by a porcelain crown fitted onto those teeth. On your first visit, Dr. Heidergott will use a local anesthetic to numb the area around the gap. The anchor teeth on either side are then shaped down to be able to fit on the anchor crowns and accommodate the new bridge. Once this is done, Dr. Heidergott will make an impression of the gap and area that needs to be filled.
